BACKLIGHTING

The artist creates the effect of colours in the texture of the graphical program CorelDraw, this time a boat leaving for night fishing. Shadows of buildings in the background make a very special constrast, highlighting the full moon in rich splendour. The sparkling water completes the athmosphere of visual poetry. SAIL BOAT

The canoeiro (canoe sailor) cuts the waters of the "Old Chico" under the beautiful moonlight of Penedo, city that keeps an historical relic of Colonial Brazil. Its secular churches and monuments gives an authentic baroque air to the city. The picture also shows the full moon appearing in the back of the Imperial Passo, where Emperor D. Pedro II took up quarters in October, 14, 1859, and the Church of N.S. das Correntes, constructed in 1764. Dimensions: 65cm of width by 85cm of height.

PENEDO BY NIGHT

Beautiful night of incomparable magic. Boats sailing under the eyes of the eternal baroque city. The magic light of the sun was Bezerra Neto’s inspiration for this picture. The king of stars was already dimming his torch over the hills at the end of the evening, giving place to the moon, which rose full of splendour to shine over the secular roofs of Penedo and the water of the “Old Chico” river. A unusually pretty look of the town by the side of the San Francisco river, enhancing the beauty of the houses, sidewalks, steep winding slopes and religious temples. The picture measures 70cm high and 60cm wide.

OLD PENEDO

Seen by the river, the Rua do Banheiro ( Street of the Bathroom), constructed for laundrywomen, summarizes the façade of Penedo at the time of its foundation, in the XVIII century. It continues firm on the rock where it was erected, keeping memories and marking its presence in the history of the city. Houses of taipa (mud entwined with sticks), lined up and together of the others, they form, at the side by majestic temples and historical monuments, what we can call authentic historic monument of the city of Penedo. The picture measures a meter of height by 70cm width.

BEACH LITTLE HOUSE

In the coast of Alagoas and other regions of Brazilian northeast , it is common this type of housing, a species of hut covered with coconut palms and walls made of taipa (mud entwined with sticks). This one in particular, exists in the middle of an structured good beach quarter of Barra Nova, Marechal Deodoro, first capital of Alagoas. The screen measures 70cm of height by 53cm of width.

HINTERLAND FLOWER

In the northeastern hinterlands there is an infinity of rare species of wild plants – mallow rose, bromeliae, orchids, gorgeous flowers of different kinds of cacti – mandacaru, crotons, monk’s heads. This is a pretty world full of flowers and life, green vegetation and positive vibrations. The plants of the forests fill the life of the simple man of that barren soil; he finds hope in the contemplation of the beauty around him. He tends to the flowers and harvests them as the Japanese do with their ikebana; so nature and he work together. But for the cacti flowers, which grow out of rocks, he harbours almost the same religious feelings as the Orientals do.

The moon appears in silvery colours from behind the hills to illuminate the flora. The serenaders sing the ecstasy of this serene moment in the night: “Oh, white moon/ of glitter and enchantments/ if it is true/ that the love you give shelter to/ will take the tears from my eyes/ ah, come kill/ this passion that follows me.”The moon appears and the flower of the mandacaru revives. The serenaders come and transform the magic into song - singing and singing, the moon fills their mouths, makes the whites of their teeth shine, bewitched mouths kiss in the all embracing moonlight shining love rays all around. The moonshine in the hinerlands is of incredible beauty, just as nature all around: “There is’nt/ oh people/ oh, no/ moonshine like this/ in the hinterlands...”( In the northeastern hinterlands there is an infinity of rare species of wild plants – mallow rose, bromeliae, orchids, gorgeous flowers of different kinds of cacti – mandacaru, crotons, monk’s heads. NATURE

There is in the northeastern hinterland an infinity of rare species of wild plants - mauves, bromeliae, orchids, gorgeous flowers, beyond the many species of cactus - mandacaru, "priest’s crown". It is pretty of if seeing that flowery world full of life, green and full of positive vibrations. The forestry flora fill the life of the simple man of that barren soil, bringing to him hope in the contemplation of the beauty that exists in turn of himself. He cultivates the life of the flowers and he harvest them from its birthplace as the Japanese with their ikebana; therefore, for him, everything is born for workmanship and favour of the nature. But he contemplates a cacti, the flowers that are born on top of rocks with almost the same religious feeling of the oriental.

LAND IN A TRANCE

The land was undergoing a transition of occupation, man having to build his home under the calm and compassionate eye of nature. The land gave him the means to establish himself and raise his children. He did have to obey certain rules of behaviour, though: He had to be coherent with the land, not harming it imprudently. The sun directs his life, makes him wake early and take the right direction of all his days. A painting that reflects the valiant man. It measures 75 cm high and 60 cm wide.
